China's Jiuzhang quantum computer, led by physicist Pan Jianwei, has achieved a speed 180 million times faster than the world's most powerful supercomputer on AI-related tasks.
The research demonstrated the quantum computer's ability to accelerate two AI algorithms, with potential applications in data mining, biological information processing, network analysis, and chemical modelling.
Unlike other quantum computers, Jiuzhang uses light for calculation and can operate stably for longer periods. This breakthrough marks a significant step towards harnessing the full potential of quantum computing technology.
